Sally Swainson Callahan, 78, of Danny’s Way, Wallingford, died, Friday, January 29, 2010, after a brief illness, at the Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford. She was the beloved wife of Bernard Callahan.

Sally was born in Wallingford, November 30, 1931, the daughter of the late Edward Swainson and Frances Yale Swainson, and had been a Hamden and Branford resident for many years before returning to Wallingford. Sally had been employed by the First Federal Bank until her retirement. She enjoyed spending her summers in Branford and was a member of Trinity Church on the Green in New Haven.

Besides her husband, Bernard, she is survived by her daughter Sarah Tiffany and her husband David of Branford; her son Christopher Callahan and his wife Susan of Wallingford; and her granddaughter Jessica Callahan.

Mrs. Callahan’s family would like to thank the Hospice Staff at the Masonicare Health Center for their care of our wife and mother.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 2 p.m. in St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 360 Church St., Yalesville, CT. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hamden. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to a Humane Society of your choice or to the American Heart Association, 1 Union Street Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ, 08691.
