Life Legacy
Ernest “Buddy” Mario Ruggiero Jr., 61, of Knob Hill Rd., South Meriden, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Hartford Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Sharon A. Montano Ruggiero.
He was born in New Haven, September 24, 1948, a son of the late Ernest M. Ruggiero Sr. and Phyllis Duby Ruggiero and was a Vietnam War Veteran, having served two tours in the Army and Navy. He later served in the National Guard. He retired from Allegheny Ludlum Steel Company three years ago and was a member of Masonic Compass Lodge #9 of Wallingford and the Veterans of Foreign Wars - Jonathan D. Blythe Post #9965.
In addition to his wife Sharon, he is survived by his two sons, Stephen E. Ruggiero and Daniel V. Ruggiero and his wife Rachel, all of Meriden; his grandchildren, Christopher Ruggiero, Daniel V. Ruggiero Jr., Emma Ruggiero, Deanna Ruggiero and Sheena Cardwell; his siblings, Jeannette Poleio, Sharon Smith, Theodore “Teddy” Ruggiero and Kenneth Ruggiero, all of West Haven; his in-laws, Cynthia Watson of North Carolina and Vincent A. Montano Jr., of New Haven; and many nieces and nephews.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Tuesday, March 9, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Interment will be private.
