Life Legacy


James Kearney Hageman, 88, of Munson Drive, Wallingford, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Mary Rerecich Hageman.

He was born in Seymour, February 10, 1922, a son of the late Jacob and Mary Carney Hageman and lived most of his life in Long Island, NY, before moving to Wallingford 14 years ago. A World War II Veteran, he served in the Army as a Master Sergeant of Army Ground Forces. He had been employed as a fire insurance inspector until his retirement. James served as Past Chief and Commissioner in the Uniondale Fire Department where he was an active member for 45 years; he also was a member of the departments Antique Society. He served as Past President of the Nassau County Fireman’s Holy Name Society, a board member of AARP Chapter #3036, and was a member of the Wallingford Senior Center. He was a parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection and a Eucharistic Minister.

In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law, Candace and Richard Way of Clinton, Stephanie and Richard Goodhart of Stony Brook, NY, and Kisten and Joseph Conroy of Skippack, PA; his seven grandchildren; a great grandson; his sister-in-law, Antoinette Lubizzo; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Christine Hofer.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Sunday, July 18, 2010, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home when the funeral cortege will proceed to the Church of the Resurrection where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Interment with military honors will be in All Saints Cemetery in North Haven.
